Typical problems are loose or missing mosaic tiles, open joints, a water level that keeps dropping, cracked coping baked by the sun and old pumps that use too much electricity. A well-planned refurbishment gives the pool a new life without demolishing it.
What a pool renovation includes

Leaks and waterproofing
If your pool loses more water than evaporation explains, there is probably a leak, and it should be found before anything else. Leaks usually appear at tile joints, around skimmers and lights, in cracks in the shell or in the filtration pipes. When the old finish is badly worn, the most reliable solution is usually to waterproof the whole shell with a reinforced liner.

Coping, surrounds, lighting and salt
Coping and the pool surround take the worst of the sun and chlorine, so it makes sense to renew them with the shell. We use non-slip materials that stay cooler underfoot and check the falls so water drains away from the pool and the house. Old halogen lights can be swapped for low-energy LED, and a salt chlorinator makes water care simpler, which helps if the house is empty for weeks at a time. Before switching to salt, we check that metal fittings and the lining are compatible.
Accessibility
Wide built-in steps, handrails and a non-slip surround make the pool safer for older family members, children and holiday guests. These are popular upgrades for villas that are let to families.

When is the best time to renovate a pool?
Between October and April. You do not lose swimming days, the mild Alicante winter suits the work and the materials, and the pool is ready before summer and the letting season.
Can you manage the work while I am abroad?
Yes. One project manager runs the job, sends you photo and video updates at each stage and calls you when a decision is needed. Access is arranged with your key holder, pool maintenance company or agent.
Do I need a licence to renovate my pool?
It depends on the scope and the town. Works that keep the same shape and size are usually processed by declaración responsable or licencia de obra menor at the Ayuntamiento; changing or enlarging the shell may need a technical project and a licencia de obra mayor. We handle the paperwork.
