Builders in Alicante who work the way you expect
Costa Renova is a renovation company based in Alicante that takes on complete projects for homeowners, holiday-home owners and businesses across the Costa Blanca. We plan the work, coordinate every trade, deal with the town hall and hand the property back finished and clean. You talk to one person throughout, in English.
Many homeowners on the coast have heard the same stories: builders who never return calls, quotes that double halfway through, or works that stall while the owner is back home. We set up every job to avoid that. You receive a closed, itemised quote before anything starts, a written schedule, and a single project manager who answers for the whole renovation.
What we renovate
We cover the main types of renovation on the Costa Blanca, from a single bathroom to a full villa:
- Bathroom renovation: complete bathrooms, en-suites and guest WCs, including swapping a bath for a walk-in shower.
- Kitchen renovation: new layouts, units, worktops, appliances, plumbing and electrics.
- Full home renovation: flats and apartments stripped back and rebuilt, including wiring, plumbing, floors, windows and air conditioning.
- Villa and house renovation: detached houses and townhouses in urbanisations, including roofs, terraces, facades and aerothermal heating.
- Commercial renovation: shops, offices, clinics, bars and restaurants.
- Pool renovation: leak repairs, new liner or mosaic, coping, LED lighting and salt systems for villa and community pools.
Prices depend on size, condition and the finish you choose, so these figures are an orientation for 2026 in the Alicante area. All prices exclude IVA.
The full breakdown, including windows, air conditioning, painting and waterproofing, is on our renovation prices page.
How a renovation works with us
The process is the same whether you are redoing one bathroom or a whole villa:
- Visit. We come to the property, take measurements and listen to what you want. If you are abroad, someone you trust can let us in, or we can start with photos and a video call.
- Fixed quote. You receive a detailed quote, broken down item by item, with materials and finishes specified. It is and there is no obligation.
- Planning. We agree dates, order materials and handle the licence or declaración responsable with the town hall.
- Works. One project manager runs the site and coordinates bricklayers, plumbers, electricians, carpenters and painters.
- Handover. We walk through the finished job with you, in person or on video, fix any snags and give you a documented final review.
Renovating from abroad
Many people own a property on the Costa Blanca but live in the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia or elsewhere in Europe. Remote management is built into how we work, not an extra.
- Regular photo and video updates sent by email.
- Decisions on tiles, taps or worktops made from samples and photos, or on a video call.
- Access coordinated with your key holder, letting agent or neighbour.
- A clear payment schedule tied to stages of the work, agreed in the contract.
Paperwork: licences, NIE, IVA and your community
Spanish paperwork is where many expat renovations get stuck. We take it off your hands.
- Licences. Most interior works are processed by declaración responsable or licencia de obra menor at the Ayuntamiento. Structural changes or extensions need a project and a licencia de obra mayor. We prepare and submit the paperwork.
- NIE. The town hall and the invoice will normally need the owner's NIE. If you are still sorting yours out, we tell you exactly what is needed so the works are not delayed.
- Comunidad de propietarios. In a block of flats, works that affect shared elements such as the facade, structure or terrace enclosures need the community's agreement, and buildings often have rules on working hours and lift use. We check this with the administrator before we start.
Holiday homes and resale properties
If you rent out your apartment, we plan the works for the quieter months between seasons so the property is ready again before the summer bookings. If you are buying a resale property, a visit before you commit helps you understand the real budget for bringing it up to standard, from rewiring an older flat in the Centro or Benalúa to treating damp and salt damage in a seafront apartment in Playa de San Juan or El Campello.

Frequently asked questions
Do you speak English?
Yes. You can deal with us in English from the first visit to the handover, and your quote and project updates can be written in English. Contracts and council paperwork are in Spanish, and we explain each document to you in plain English before you sign anything.
Can you manage the renovation while I am in the UK or elsewhere?
Yes. Remote management is built into how we work. One project manager coordinates everything, sends you regular photo and video updates and calls you whenever a decision is needed, so you only need to fly over if you want to.
Do I need a licence to renovate my property in Spain?
Almost always some form of permission is needed. Most interior works in Alicante are processed through a declaración responsable or a licencia de obra menor at the town hall, while larger structural works need a project and a licencia de obra mayor. We handle the paperwork for you.
